The opening ceremony of the World Cup also represented a special day in St Malachy’s BNS. Thursday June 14th marked the day St Malchy’s BNS completed their ‘Run To Russia’. Run To Russia was completed in conjunction with the School Mile Challenge, we in St Malachy’s BNS came up with the idea of accumulating our miles as a school to run from St Malachy’s Boys School to Luzhniki Stadium in Russia where the opening ceremony of the 2018 FIFA WORLD CUP FINALS took place.
The journey took us a total of 2,266 miles / 3,646 Kilometres. Each class in the school ran 3 laps of the Friary field and this accumulated one mile per child. Over a number of weeks we completed the journey from St Malachy’s BNS to Luzhniki Stadium in Russia. It is a great achivement and we are very pleased with the effort from the pupils and staff alike. Well done to all involved.
