Today was a very special day in St Malachy’s Boys’ school with our much anticipated Christmas Assembly. This took place in our hall with the whole school in attendance. The assembly got underway with ‘The Nativity’ to remind us of the real reason for the wonder holiday of ‘Christmas’. This was followed by our 6th class Carol group then onto our 3rd classes Mr Farrelly and Ms McNally for a rendition of Feliz Navidad, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Rocking around the Christmas Tree and Once There Was a Snowman. 4th classes Ms McElroy and Ms McKevitt then followed with Twas the days before Christmas and Merry Christmas everyone. It was then time for some draw cards and selection boxes to be given out. Our tin whistlers followed with The First Noel and Jingle Bells. Rang a dó Ms Mc Keown and Ms McShane treated us to ‘Bualadh bos’ and ‘Nearly Christmas’. Ms Murphy’s 5th class then give us a new addition to our Christmas assemblies with ‘Wonderful Christmas Time’ followed by Mr Wynnes 5th/6th with ‘Must be Santa’ and finally Mr O’Connell’s class with ‘This Christmas’.
The school band then lifted the roof with ‘Fifties medoly’ and Fairytale of New York. Finally our school choir brought the curtains down on a wonderful Christmas assembly with a medoly of Christmas songs.
We would like to thank all the staff for all the work and effort put into a very special assembly bursting with talent.
We really look forward to showing the parents at the ‘Drop-off Drop-In’ next Wednesday. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend from all at St Malachy’s Boys’ School.
