On Friday last, Saoirse from Green Schools paid a visit to St Malachy’s BNS to teach us one of the most important lessons to know when cycling. In conjunction with the launch of our ‘Cycle On Wednesday or Cycle Once a Week’ programme, we learned how to repair a punctured bicycle tyre. This was a very informative workshop in which the boys got to work in groups and get hands on experience of how to repair a puncture. The lesson included locating the puncture using a basin of water, patching up the puncture using sand paper, glue and a patch. Finally, the boys tested to see if the tube was fully repaired by reinflating the tube of the wheel. Check out our photos to see how the boys got on with their task!
