Over 70 pupils from our 5th and 6th classes participated in the Senior Friary World Cup throughout December at lunchtime. Our 5th and 6th Class Friary World Cup Final kicked off at 12.30pm today in the Friary yard. Like the junior final, this match was a brilliant, end to end contest. The World Cup wildcards, Ireland, took a lead around 10 minutes in and pushed hard for a second. However, it was the Argentineans that levelled things up about 5 minutes from the end. In what looked like a repeat of the Junior final with Golden Goal looming, Ireland grabbed a late winner through Shay. Once again, very well done to both our teams and to all pupils who participated in this enjoyable tournament in a sporting manner. Thank you to all the referees from 6th class – who officiated the games fairly and got a taste of how difficult a job it an be! The presentation of medals and the Friary World Cup trophy were made by tournament organisers, Jack and Evan (6th class). Well done all involved.
